　　Wai Kiu College was established in a tenement building on Shek Kip Mei Street in 1953, when schools were scarce in Sham Shui Po, on the initiative of several gentlemen, including Lo Hak Yiu, Lau Shing, Yeung Siu Po, Lo Yee Nin, and Wai Yee Chak.

　　In 1958, Wai Yeung Merchants Association started to administer the school. In 1961, Chung Yuk Hing, Hui Yung Shing, Cheung Koon Shing, Ho Shou Hong, Wong Fook Ki, Lam Tak Cheung, Hui Kwok Ho, and Yeung Siu Po established the “Committee for the Expansion of the New School” to raise funds for the construction of the current school premises at Wai Chi Street, Shek Kip Mei. As the number of students continued to rise, Mr. Cheung Koon Shing, a member of the board, donated $3 million to expand the campus.

　　For the past three decades, the school has been actively seeking improvement. In 1968, we submitted an application to become a private secondary school. As suggested in Education Commission Report No. 3, the school enrolled in the Bought Place Scheme in the 1990s, and in 1999, the School Management Committee established the Wai Yeung Merchants Association Education Fund and successfully applied to the government to become a Direct Subsidy Scheme Co-educational Grammar School so that it could continue to offer excellent education to the local community.
